4 Ways to Connect with and Support Blue Dog Dance

Do 1, 2, 3, or all 4. Everything helps!

Video from the Barbara Walshe, Director – Click Here

1 – Keep dancing! Current students, you will be receiving videos during this break to continue learning recital choreography. You will also get videos of appropriate dance activities for your individual classes. Your individual class links are in the menu above, and we will send out emails as they are updated. Please look for challenges and other fun activities we announce during this time through social media on Facebook and Instagram. We want to dance together while we are apart.

2 – Donate! We are not charging April tuition. In fact, we are not charging any tuition until we are up and running and families assess their situations as well. Our staff is working hard to change the format we deliver instruction in a short time-frame. To help cover the staff pay and operational costs, Blue Dog Dance appreciates any amount you are able to give. We are accepting donations through PayPal. Here’s the link.

3 – Join our Online Academy! We are offering a 4-week online session of new classes to do in your home. You can continue with what you are currently studying and/or try something new. Registration will start March 23rd and classes start March 30th. Tuition is $20 for 4 30-minute classes that will be live – with access to the recorded session.

4 – Share our Online Academy! This is an opportunity to take class with someone you wouldn’t usually get to – maybe a cousin in another state, perhaps a group of friends who’s schedules usually conflict, maybe a whole extended family can join. Even if the schedule does not work out for you, there are people needing activities to do at home. Spreading the word will not only help us serve the greater community, but it also helps the viability of Blue Dog Dance.

Oh – and one more way…. Please adhere to any government recommendations. The best thing for Blue Dog Dance, other local business, and our entire community is if we follow guidelines to help health professionals combat this virus as quickly as possible. And, more importantly, to take what actions are needed to protect as many lives as possible.

In lieu of April tuition, you can donate to us to help cover operational expenses. It can be for any amount. We appreciate your support. Thank you!

Letter from the Director:

Blue Dog Dance Covid-19 Update 3/12/2020

Hello,

Today Governor Inslee ordered schools in our county to close until April 24th due to Covid-19 concerns. I care for the community Blue Dog Dance serves and intend to participate in measures needed to protect all its members.

Blue Dog Dance will be CLOSED starting tomorrow, March 13th through April 24th.

Because this plan is longer than two weeks, the current plan is as follows:

March classes will be made up by

  • The last week of classes in April beginning April 25th
  • Extending our school year to June 28th
  • Instructional videos

April will be tuition free – with an option to donate

  • We will continue with video instructions
  • We will continue with choreography in preparation for the recital
At this time, the studio’s first priority is making sure all of its families and staff members are taken care of. Please reach out to us if you need assistance. Then we will research and likely need to experiment with different delivery platforms for video instruction. Please give us a week to determine those logistics because we want the videos to be educational and fun.

The circumstances regarding Covid-19 have been updating rapidly. As we approach April 25th we will inform you if any changes to our plan are needed.

Personal note:

Uncertainty does not feel good, but I’d like to think it stretches us to find more compassion, creativity, and confidence in our abilities. In this moment of writing what is the most difficult email of the 12 years I’ve owned Blue Dog Dance; I am also overwhelmed with love. I am hopeful that the measures our community are taking will reduce the number of people affected and lives lost by this virus. I am hopeful these measures will allow our healthcare professionals to properly manage the virus. And I look forward to the new things that I will learn about myself and my staff as we navigate through these next weeks.

Sincerely,

Barbara Walshe, Director
