Dance for Toddlers (1yr - 3yr)

Dance with Me - 1 year -2 years
Dancing Babies classes are for our youngest dancing feet with their adult partner. Dancers get to develop gross motor skills, learn dance vocabulary, and explore music. Plus, they get to share their experience with a loved one.
Dance with Me - 2-3 years
Dance with Me classes are for toddlers with their adult partner. These classes are structured based on our creative dance classes and are enjoyed as a shared experience.
Dance for Preschoolers (3yr - 5yr)
Creative Dance - 3-4 years
Creative classes are for independent preschoolers as an introduction to dance and interpretive movement. Our classes are based on brain-compatible dance education concepts. Children develop movement patterns as the base of all dance education. All of this, while having a good time meeting friends. Our Bridge to Dance class is for dancers transitioning into independence - a parent or caregiver can be in the studio. $72/month*
Pre-Dance with Tap - 4-5 years
Pre-dance classes are offered to children ages 4-5 as they transition from a creative movement class to a more structured technique class. These classes usually combine styles to expose dancers to a variety of movement possibilities. Elements of Ballet, Jazz and Tap are incorporated into each class. $82/month*

Dance for Kindergarteners
Kinder Ballet/Tap classes will start the year with ballet. Tap curriculum will be added during the Fall.
Kinder Ballet/Tap classes are offered to children in kindergarten to build the fundamentals of ballet and tap.
Kinder Hip Hop classes are offered to children in kindergarten who want to learn and explore hip hop dance.
Kinder Acro classes give your child an age-appropriate beginning to Acro Dance.

AcroDance Classes
Acrodance is our class for students to learn tumbling, balance, and flexibility skills. Students develop skills such as somersaults, cartwheels, bridges and handstands. This class builds student's strength, endurance and coordination. Our program is based on Acrobatic Arts, an internationally respected curriculum.
Ballet
Ballet is a formal and technical style of dance, and can be traced back to the late 15th century. Classes focus on core strength, flexibility, body alignment, and muscle control. The method of ballet can vary depending upon the training of the individual instructor. Ballet develops grace, poise, and discipline.
HIP-HOP
Hip Hop has developed from street dancing and jazz funk. Now, hip hop incorporates styles ranging from cheerleading to house dancing. Students enjoy this style of dance while exploring the concepts of spatial awareness, musicality, energy and performance.
Jazz Dance
During the roaring 20's, the rise of jazz music encouraged dance to become more social and reflective of Jazz music. Jazz dance is a style of dance that is seen in many Broadway type shows such as "Cats". Jazz dancing is entertaining to watch, fun and active to participate in. Jazz features a combination of unique moves, intricate footwork, leaps and quick turns. Jazz enhances a dancers grace and balance. Key characteristics include isolations and rhythmic layering. Jazz dances will often have a playful attitude and bold characters.
Lyrical and Contemporary
Blue Dog Dance offers lyrical or elementary and middle school students and contemporary for high schoolers.
Lyrical dance is easiest described as a combination of jazz and ballet. It is faster than ballet, but not as fast as jazz. Lyrical dance combines the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance. Most lyrical dance pieces are performed to music with lyrics and the lyrics of the song are what the choreography of the dance is based on. The songs chosen usually express very strong emotions, like love, joy and anger. Lyrical dance is very graceful with moves flowing smoothly and seamlessly. Jumps are high and turns are very fluid. Lyrical is one of the most expressive forms of dance to watch.
Contemporary is for high school students and builds on lyrical technique (combining ballet and jazz) and incorporates modern elements that allow for both lyrical expression and abstract interpretation of movement. Contemporary is a relatively new as a dance form and can vary from one class to another.
Musical Theater
Musical Theater classes offer performers a chance to develop their jazz technique while focusing on theatrical expression and storytelling through dance. Classes will also include elements of singing and acting.
Tap Dancing
Tap dancing is an American art form with a history of influences of African, Irish, and Spanish dance. Tap can come in a variety of styles, but the taps on the shoes make it a fun, percussive form of dance. We develop tappers who can function as Broadway, rhythm, or classical tap dancers. We focus on technique, vocabulary, syncopation and improvisation.

At Blue Dog Dance, we offer a variety of classes for beginning and experienced dancers. Our classes are a fun mix of physical exercise, social engagement and skill development. And yes, you can perform if you want to!
